Director Biography

Rainbow Party is written and directed by Eva Sigurdardottir. Eva is best known as a producer – her credits include BAFTA nominated short film Good Night (2013) and Festival de Cannes Prix Un Certain Regards winner Rams (2015). Rainbow Party is Eva’s directorial debut.

Eva is originally from Iceland, but she grew up and lived all across Europe for more than half her life. She studied Television Production at the University of Westminster in London, and went on to work in children’s television at the BBC. After a string of successful short films as a freelance producer, Eva decided to set up her own production company – Askja Films (www.askjafilms.com).

Largely influenced by her own experiences as a teenage girl living in Iceland, Rainbow Party is a semi-biographical project. Eva last lived in Iceland at the age of fourteen and herself experienced severe bullying, which resulted in her moving away from Iceland. When she finally returned to her home country sixteen years later, she wrote the script for Rainbow Party.

Although an extremely busy and successful Producer, Eva is also going to continue working on projects as a Writer and Director. She is currently preparing her next short film Cut, which deals with the crazy world of fitness and bodybuilding, as seen through the eyes of a teenage girl. Together with scriptwriter Madeleine Sims-Fewer she is also developing her first feature script, which is in a similar tone to Cut.
