Director Statement

This film was shot almost entirely with just a two person crew – we were the co-directors, co-writers, audio, DP, and editors.

We contacted 70 schools across the world. 4 accepted: Tokyo, Muscat, Kathmandu, and Hartford. We had 2 weeks in each country, and we presented them with 1 impossible script.

We shlepped around our equipment in huge backpacks, met our students, fought against the dying light of each day and their classroom schedules. The students fought alongside us: every other person behind the scenes and in front of the camera was under 18. They helped us adjust the stories of “Fever” to fit their cultures, they were our much needed translators, our location scouts, our incredible budding actors, all armed with so much spirit and fight. We fought against rain in Muscat, the fuel crisis in Kathmandu, lack of school uniforms in Hartford, and early subway shut downs in Tokyo.

Lots and lots of luck went into “Fever”, as well as the grit of 100+ high school students from around the world, and two crazy first-time filmmakers.
